Almost Famous

I remember Christmas as a little girl in Red Hook,Brooklyn. I was pretty lucky to have a dad who owned a toy store back then. And wether we schlepped into the city to buy toys or they happened to fall off a truck outside dad’s store,we always got plenty from Santa! My dad, known to many as “Skinny” always gave back to the neighborhood. Every year he had Santa Claus outside his store no matter how bad things were. One year dad almost became famous when he was featured in the New York Times for this little act of kindness, and well he was almost famous! I can’t put into words what I would give for one more Christmas with dad in his store in my old neighborhood of Red Hook,Brooklyn!
